Acute toxicity assays, FTZ

At ZF BioLabs we have developed different tests for acute toxicity:

ZF ACUTOX ASSAY. This test allows the determination of 48-h LC50 value, in a fast and cost effective way of any testing compound on living embryos.

ZF ACUTOX- PLUS ASSAY. In addition to the 48-h LC50 value, this test allows a fast and cost effective assessment of morphological/functional effects of the tested compounds on living embryos.

FAST TOXICITY ASSAY WITH ZEBRAFISH (FTZ). This test is very useful to detect toxicity of different compounds in very short periods of time. We now have a test protocol to detect toxicity in 1’5 hrs, based on the observation of specific endpoints (abnormalities and/or lethality) during the first cell divisions of the Zebrafish embryo development that is useful for predicting the toxicity of the tested compound.

This assay is very well-suited in Ecotoxicity studies detecting, in a very short time and at low cost, cyanotoxins and other toxicants for the drinking water supply industry. This can be very useful to rapidly alert of potential bio- & chemical terrorism attacks, biological toxic bloomings, pollutant spills, etc.

Abnormal embryo

A double selection of layings and embryos is carried out before proceeding with the test, in order to select the best quality embryos. In this way, we assure the minimum variability between replicates and increase the reproducibility and reliability of the test.

There are already available the ZF ACUTOX Kit & ZF ACUTOX- PLUS Kit
